Your record, and where it lives

Everything you tell Akashic — your notes, your agenda, your conversations — is kept as plain markdown files on an instance run for you. It is not a shared database with other people's records mixed in; it is your own copy, on its own machine.

Who operates it

East runs the machine your instance lives on. He can technically read what is on it, the way anyone who runs a mail server can technically read mail passing through it — but he does not read your record, and nothing in the product sends it to him.

What leaves the instance

Two things leave your instance, and nothing else does:

• Ordinary questions you ask, and the answers, go to Google's Gemini API

under our account, so an outside model can help answer them. Gemini does not get your whole record — only what a question needs.

• If you connect your Google account, Akashic reads your contacts and

calendar, and reads/writes/labels your Gmail (never a permanent delete). You choose whether to connect it, and you can disconnect at any time.

Nothing else leaves the instance. No analytics, no third-party trackers, no selling of data — there is nothing to sell it to.

What we can see

We do not read your record. Supervised profiles (for a household's younger members) have their own, separate escalation rules — ask if that applies to you.

Leaving

Export everything you own in one command from Setup: your record as plain markdown, its history, and every file you've added. Nothing is locked in a format only Akashic can read.

Problems

If something looks wrong — a wrong answer, a privacy concern, anything — tell East directly, or use the report-a-problem link wherever you're signed in.
